Northlake is co-hosting a workshop for community members and leaders on understanding poverty that will help our work to reduce poverty and to understand how policy decisions impact poverty. We are delighted to offer this free and educational workshop with Ruth Admal of Ancora Workforce Solutions.

Ruth has over ten years of experience working with low income communities (most recently in Baton Rouge before coming to Washington State), developing and implementing programs to give those in poverty access to resources and opportunities. She has a great deal of experience educating leaders, social workers, and community in understanding poverty, and her work is centered on the importance of equality and dignity for all.

The workshop will address the following questions:

  • What is poverty?
  • Why are people living in poverty?
  • What causes poverty?
  • Will poverty ever end?
  • Who does poverty impact?
  • Why do people stay in poverty?
