At its meeting on Oct. 2, the Board voted unanimously to present the draft by-laws proposals to the congregation for a vote on Oct. 20, 2019. The proposed changes were all passed.

The Board discussed the latest revisions to the proposed WUUC Governance Statement. Four voted in favor of the final draft and one abstained. At the Oct. 16 meeting, the two remaining members of the Board voted in favor of the statement. Further information will soon be sent to the congregation regarding the Board’s discussion and deliberations that led to the revised statement.

A subcommittee of Dottie, John, and Rev. Diana are working on a draft outline of a WUUC responsibility assignment matrix, also known as RACI matrix or linear responsibility chart, which describes the participation by various roles in completing tasks or decisions for the church. RACI is an acronym derived from the four key responsibilities most typically used: Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed. A subcommittee of John, Rachel, Terry and Lori McConnell are reviewing the Minister model contract.

The Board will sponsor a “Dessert and Telestrations” auction event and create a dedicated parking space to be put up for auction.

Reviewing snow removal coordination and expense will be taken up by the sustainability ministry. The Board supports the idea of having volunteers from the church assigned the role of safety officers. Training would be provided.

The church is in need of an upgrade to the internet service. We have received a proposal from Comcast for a cost of $12,000. Comcast would pay $4,000 of that total cost and WUUC would need to pay the remaining $8,000. Ideas for raising the money are being pursued including a Chalice Lighters grant.
