In this workshop we will engage in honest and authentic dialogue, exploration, and analysis around issues of racism, equity and privilege. The film, The Color of Fear, will serve as a springboard for us as individuals and as a collective to gather lessons to learn from which we can build better understanding of ourselves and others engage in issues of equity and social justice to change the history of our world.

James Baldwin wrote in The Fire Next Time: Everything now, we must assume, is in our hands; we have no right to assume otherwise. If we do not falter in our duty now, we may be able, handful that we are, to end the racial nightmare, and achieve our country, and change the history of the world.

Theressa Lenear will lead the workshop.  Theressa sees her work, in teaching, mentoring, and coaching those wishing to strengthen their skills as community advocates on behalf of and in collaboration with diverse communities, as a cultural expectation and a collective responsibility. As a mother of 6 grown adults, a grandmother of 13 and a great grandmother of 4, she is constantly reminded of why she must engage in issues of equity and social justice.
