Morning Buddhist Meditation [s]
April 25 @ 10:00 am - 11:45 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:00am on Tuesday, repeating until June 27, 2017
Zen meditation and discussion: Drop-in, Tuesdays 10 AM – Noon (Sanctuary) or Thursday 7-9 PM (Portable 2).
The first hour offers silent meditation (instruction available), a short period of walking meditation, and an introduction to Zen ritual including sutra chanting and bowing (gratitude) practice. The second hour includes tea and discussion around core teachings of Buddhism from a Zen perspective.
Our introductory book is In This Very Moment: A Simple Guide to Zen Buddhism, by the Rev. James Ishmael Ford (available from the UUA Bookstore and standard outlets). Additional materials will be drawn from many Buddhist teachers and traditions, and will take advantage of resources from Boundless Way Zen, founded by Rev. Ford, a UU minister and Zen priest. Chairs are provided; participants may bring their own cushions or benches if desired.
