My name is Mark and I’m an alcoholic. Since February, 1999 I have been living a life of discovery and recovery from alcohol addiction. It has at times been joyful, heartbreaking, exciting, and serene. In other words, I’ve been living life on life’s terms, one day at a time.
This talk, more of a story than a sermon, combines the account of my circuitous awakening to a broader more positive spiritual life as well as a short, scholarly definition of Humanism. It is a thoroughly re-written version of a talk I gave in 2009.
