Consider an Endowment Pledge
Learn more at wuuc.org/endow.
The WUUC Endowment Fund is an investment in the long-term health of WUUC and can serve many significant purposes: a source for short-term funding of an activity WUUC would not be able to fund otherwise, or a means to take advantage of unusual major opportunities for growth or service, or even as a source of financial backup in case of major emergency. Consider making an endowment pledge commitment as part of your estate planning or as a one-time donation.

Justice & Service Monthly Collection
- Sunday, May 18

May 18th ASJ Collection
The Fair Fight Bond Fund is the only community-sourced immigration bond fund based in Washington State and the Pacific Northwest paying to release people from the violence and injustice that is immigration detention. As a network of community activism rooted in the direct requests of immigrants and detained people, the Fair Fight Bond Fund provides support in and outside detention through physical, emotional, linguistic, and financial assistance. We exist to provide hope and comprehensive support to detained immigrants with the goal of freeing people from detention, reuniting them with their loved ones, and working toward a larger vision of eliminating detention centers altogether. This fund is an initiative of the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN).
The ASJ Committee thanks WUUC members and friends for their generous support of our monthly special collections, which take place during services on the third Sunday of every month (May 18th). Instructions for giving are posted during the service, and you can also donate anytime at onrealm.org/wuuc/-/give/now, or by sending a check to WUUC at P.O. Box 111, Woodinville, WA 98072. Please make checks out to WUUC and write “ASJ Special Collection” in the notes. Visit wuuc.org/collection.

Post-Service Potluck - Sunday, May 25

A potluck in the sanctuary on the 4th Sunday of each month.

Continuing Zoom & Hybrid Events

Dear WUUC, The pandemic has been hard on all of us. Engaging with our shared community is more important than ever. To that end, we encourage all folks who plan, develop, or coordinate WUUC events to carefully consider including people who may not be able to participate in person by offering hybrid or online options whenever possible. Training and/or help with setting up virtual/hybrid events is available. Please contact May Killorin, Office Administrator, for assistance.

What the F#@% ?!

What the F#@% ?!
By Reverend Dan Lillie

Language is a powerful tool, but like any tool, it can be used in constructive and destructive ways. Controversial speech (everything from swear words to contentious opinions) can be especially divisive. As Religious Liberals, might we do a better job of understanding how our biases in speech often lead to outcomes that are very different, and even at odds with, our positive intentions?
