Nominating Committee Nominees

DD Hilke
DD joined WUUC in 2009.  WUUC was her third UU congregation, having previously been a long-time member of congregations in Bethesda, Maryland and Salt Lake City.  DD declared herself the “new recruit” for the choir her first week at WUUC.  She also serves on the membership committee, advocates for social justice, stewardship committee, and is a past member and past President of the Board of Trustees.  DD enjoys studying Tai Chi and has recently brought Tai Chi back to WUUC where she teaches.  When not at WUUC, you’ll often find DD still hanging with other UUs.  DD serves as the volunteer Executive Director of Northwest UU Justice Network.

Jamie Twidale
Jamie and spouse Mollie have been part of the UU community for around thirty years. Their first fellowship was the First UU in Ottawa, and we were both active in RE and the Choir. They moved to Northern California and joined the lay-led Petaluma Fellowship about a year after it was founded. Their next stop was Southern California where they joined the Canejo Valley UU fellowship. They were active in the choir, the Growth Task Force and the Facility Planning Committee for the new Buildings. At WUUC, they are members of the choir. Jamie has chaired the VEN and Stewardship committee. He works for Microsoft and recently joined the Windows Mobile team.

Endowment Committee Nominees

Lane Owsley
Lane and family joined the church in 2005, and his children have grown up here. He’s served on BAG and the Membership Committee, as well as teaching RE for many years and serving as a Youth Advisor. In his spare time, Lane is an Electrical Engineer at the Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington. This will be his second tour on the Endowment Committee, where he looks forward to helping us build a vision for a thriving church for decades to come.

Aggie Sweeney
A WUUC member since 1992, Aggie is a past board member and has served on a number of committees, including Stewardship where she is active today. Professionally Aggie is a fundraising consultant and provides counsel to diverse nonprofits throughout the Northwest. She has also counseled a number of UU congregations throughout the country regarding capital campaigns and annual budget drives. She is particularly interested in joining Endowment now to help WUUC members actively engage in the upcoming UUA Legacy Challenge.

Board of Trustees Nominees

Jim Jasinski
Jim has been attending WUUC regularly since 2013. He has been involved the past year with the membership and engagement committee and served on the Nominating Committee. He is a professor of Communication Studies and a member of the African American Studies Advisory committee at the University of Puget Sound.

Dottie Simpson
After a Methodist upbringing, Dottie started attending the University Unitarian Church in 1960 when she moved to Seattle from New York. In the 70s and early 80s she attended the Northlake Unitarian church and served as choir director and accompanist.  When the church was without a minister, she served on the worship committee at Northlake helping arrange Sunday services.  After a long interval of no church (she was playing soccer on Sundays), she found her way home in 2011, attending Eastshore UU and then really finding her way home at WUUC.  She has been the chair of the Cares and  Concerns committee for about a year and, with Stephana Ditzler, has developed the “my people” project which is just getting launched. She was as a teacher of secondary math and physics for 41 years.

Lisa Villasenor
Lisa has been attending WUUC since December of 2012, with a one year hiatus in 2015-2016.  In the past, she was part of the WUUC kitchen cleaning committee. She is originally from CA and moved to WA in 2012 after a 9-year layover in VA.  She and her husband John have been married for 23 years and have 3 sons, ages 17, 14, and 10.  When not managing a house full of boys, I enjoy running, yoga, boating, hiking, camping, reading, cooking, volunteering at my son’s elementary school, and learning how to dance.
