Crossing Paths [z,]
June 12, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
WUUC is offering a class this year called Crossing Paths as a religious education opportunity for Middle School youth, High School youth and Adults. I would like to invite you to participate as either a facilitator and/or as a class participant. Facilitators may choose to be participants for the sections they are not facilitating.
The Crossing Paths curriculum will consist of nine 4-week sections, each focusing on a different faith tradition. We will start on October 3 with an orientation session followed by 3 weeks on Unitarian Universalism and move on to learn about 8 other traditions: Judaism, Catholicism, Protestant Christianity, Evangelical Christianity and the Quaker tradition. Then we will move on to Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism. Each section is made up of 4 weekly classes and will include a visit (virtual or in person) to another faith community and/or a discussion with a faith leader from that tradition.
We will be meeting on Sunday nights from 7PM-8:30PM beginning on October 3 and run through June 26th. There will definitely be an option to participate via zoom. Depending on the comfort level of participants and facilitators, we may offer the class in a multiplatform format with some participants online and others in person at the same time.
Facilitators would be committing to co-leading at least one 4 week section on a specific faith tradition. The curriculum is already prepared for and there will be support for you. There is some preparation required for each session, but I don’t believe it will be more than an hour.
Participants are being asked to attend regularly throughout the church year. While it is understood that this is a big commitment, and participants will miss some classes, it is important to try to make it to as many as you can.
I am so excited about Crossing Paths and the multiple opportunities for learning that it will provide. You can register for the class here.
I hope you will consider joining us. Please contact Bridget Laflin with any questions or concerns or for additional information.
