MORE

Thursdays, 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM – Learn the Yang Family Essential Form (22 movements) – This is a five minute form which begins with the first six moves of Yang Family 108, “long form” and ends with the final 8 moves of the long form.  The remaining 2 ½ minutes of this form features other “essential” moves taken from within the long form in a sequence that is often unique.  The Essential Form supports deep tai chi practice in the minimum of space and time.

As of mid-December, 2018, the WUUC 5:00 pm class had just been introduced to the first six moves  and was beginning the middle section of the Essential Form.  We are learning tai chi basics at the same time.

Thursdays, 6:00 to 7:00 PM – Learn the Yang Long From (108 movements) – This is the standard Yang long form that is performed around the world.  The long form usually takes 22 to 26 minutes to perform, and includes significant repetition of many of the moves.  The long form taught at WUUC is a version that has been handed down through the family of the founder of Yang style Tai Chi, Yang Luchan.

As of mid-December, 2018, the WUUC 6:00 pm class had completed their initial learning of about 3/4 of this form and was being introduced to the last sections of the long form.  This class covers basics as well as some more advanced techniques.
