A man walks into the Planned Parenthood clinic in Brookline and opens fire. Worried that their movement will be undermined, pro-life activists work to uncover the identity of the shooter and bring him to justice. 

The shooter’s identity is discovered, and the trial becomes a political circus, both sides jockeying for publicity: The pro-choice activists fundraising and the pro-life activists hoping to preserve their reputation. But the man’s obvious schizophrenia leaves the jury with a difficult decision. 

The murder of the defendant leaves the case unresolved, and the verdict is dropped. Disillusioned by the rhetoric and posturing from both sides, three pro-life and three pro-choice leaders begin a series of clandestine meetings. The meetings are kept secret for fear of violence, disapproval, and ultimate futility. But five and a half years later, after 150 hours of dialogue and on the 28th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the six leaders go public. 

The dialogues forever change how they speak to and about each other. They begin to engage in more cross-partisan efforts. And together they successfully prevented future threats of violence. But their success is quickly overshadowed by a new tragedy. 

They meet again in a post-Roe world.
