WUUC Campout [os]
July 28, 2016 - July 31, 2016

Please consider joining us on the WUUC Campout, July 28-31 at Deception Pass State Park! It is a great opportunity for newcomers to meet people of all ages, for your children to make friends and deepen friendships, and for longtime members to get a chance to meet newcomers as well as leisurely catch up with their longtime friends. Over thirty families have reserved sites in one area of the campground.
We now have two campsites available! Please see info below to get a site transferred to you. Campout is July 28 – 31 at Deception Pass State Park, the most popular campground in Washington for which you must make reservations nine months in advance!
I hope you will join us!
Sincerely,
Cora
From Steve Okun: Does anyone want our site, #171, Thursday-Sunday. The cost was $128 (negotiable). Please reply directly to me at steveokun9@gmail.com
From Bay LeSage: We need to cancel our hold on campsite 180 by Friday. If no one in our congregation wants it we will cancel it at the parks service website Saturday. Please contact me at gryphonsbay@gmail.com.
WHY?: Deception Pass is one of Washington’s most popular parks, with reason: the campsites have easy access to a swimmable lake, the ocean, hiking trails, gorgeous sunsets, etc. Plus, it’s just a short drive from the Seattle area (less than two hours). This means even though the campout is nine months away, we need to make reservations as far in advance as is allowed, which is WEDNESDAY, OCT. 28. (Actually, I’ve noticed that reservations for the date nine months later open up the night before, 10pm or earlier , so I would check in on the night of Tuesday, Oct. 27.)
WHAT SITES? We’ve had success with reserving as many sites as possible around the Lower Loop. For a layout of the loop, go here. Below is a list of the best sites for our group, in order of priority (yes, we are going to try for the sites we’ve had before last summer’s unexpected change). Please pick one that best fits your needs and reserve it on WEDNESDAY, OCT. 28. The more we can reserve that day, the better! If you end up having to cancel between now and then, there are always other families who missed out on early reservations, and it’s simple to transfer sites.
PRIORITY SITES:
1) I will reserve site 189 as a COMMUNITY SITE, since it worked out well to have it last year. (The Goss-Grubbs family will reserve 187, right next to it, to insure that we get that site, as well).
2) It’s very important we secure the sites around 189. These are 161, 166, 192. These sites are especially suited to families with young children because parents can more easily keep track of their kids as they go to and from the Community Site.
3) Sites across from and near the sites above are the next priority: 162, 164, 165, 166, 167, 186, 188, 190.
4) To secure the nearby loop around a bathroom with showers: 172 – 185. These sites are especially suited to individuals and families who prefer a little more peace and quiet.
5) Please try and reserve the sites listed above. If they are taken, though, we can expand to 169 and 193-196 plus 149 – 160.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
1) When you reserve a site, let me know! I’ll keep track and make a map for the campout.
2) If you are not on our Camping email list, contact Brad Hull at bhull@wuuc.org and he can add you to it. Once reservations have been made, almost all the Campout communication is done on that email list.
THANKS!
Cora
