Beltane [fp]

May 6, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Wheel of the Year has turned, and new life is all around us. Spring has reached its peak before moving into summer.  The cool Spring winds, sweeping away the last of the winter frost give way to the sun’s life giving warmth.  Life abounds and change is in the air.

Beltane is a holiday of union both between the Goddess and the God when we are called to embrace the vitality and passion of summer.   The lighting of a community Beltane fire from which each hearth fire is then relit is a tradition of unity with ancient roots.

This year’s ritual will focus on the things that we are ready to sweep away as a community before embracing the creative passion that we will need to create new and beautiful beginnings in the coming months.

Join WUUC’s Earth-based and Pagan community Sunday, May 6, from 2-4 p.m., as we light the Beltane fire. We will honor the God’s creative and destructive power and celebrate his union with the Goddess.

Note to participants:  The Beltane sabbat celebrates fertility in all its forms with priest and priestess reflecting the relationship of the God and Goddess in rituals.  This circle includes sensual contact between the priest and priestess  as they embody and share the myth of their union.
